Senior PHP Developer / Web Application Developer

We are on the lookout for a highly talented Senior PHP Developer to work at the forefront of some very exciting projects.

As a Senior PHP Developer you will be leading the development of controlled, up to date code for various large-scale complex projects. This role really requires someone who has experience working on huge projects that demand a lot of attention to detail and high standards of work.

As a Senior PHP Developer you will work closely with the Head of interactive and project manager, to remain the leader in the digital space for the many years to come. You will act as a mentor to your team and be constantly updating your own skills to stay on top of this ever changing market.

To be successful for this Senior PHP Development role you must have:

An absolute minimum of 5 years experience working in a similar role to that mentioned above, and expert knowledge of PHP, mySQL and Open Source technologies.

The successful applicant will have:

    * A strong understanding of PHP5 with proven experience
    * MySQL database design, configuration and performance tuning
    * Experience integrating front-end templates with back-end functionality.
    * Ability to research emerging technologies and identify possible applications.
    * Well-versed in, AJAX Web 2.0 and DHTML frameworks
    * Experience with Wordpress or other PHP based frameworks and/or CMS's
    * An understanding of Linux
    * Knowledge of Web Standards and user-oriented design
    * Must be experienced in designing and building scalable back-end systems
    * Well-versed in HTML, CSS, Javascript and AJAX. – Duplicate line
    * Extensive knowledge of standards compliant HTML4.0, XHTML1.0 and CSS2
    * Experience with web services XML/API
    * An understanding of Web 2.0 design trends, styles and technologies
    * A high level of skill and experience with layouts and front-end design using Adobe Photoshop
    * Experience with cross-browser compatibility including Internet Explorer rendering issues and solutions

Senior Interactive Web & Flash Designer

Mortimer Harvey is a leading, advertising agency that is expanding as a result of the creative and innovative work that we are delivering for some of South Afica’s leading brands.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    * Design and produce work from concept stage which matches client expectation, budget and timing.
    * Generate sound creative rationale for designs.
    * Liaise with the Head of Interactive, Art Directors, Project Managers, Account Managers and other office staff.
    * Provide support to web designers.
    * Deliver creative concepts and translate them into usable interfaces from brief.
    * Provide accurate effort estimates and deliver to timelines.

Required skills and experience:

    * A minimum of 5 years experience in designing for web, multimedia and interactive interfaces.
    * Proven experience in meeting briefs and expectations.
    * Proficiency in Adobe CS3/CS4  Suite (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator etc).
    * Experience in web design and how CSS and HTML influence design concepts.
    * Experience in designing for dynamic and modular sites.
    * Knowledge of usability and accessibility and how they guide design.
    * Intermediate to Expert level of Flash design skills.
    * Experience in Action script 2.0/3.0 (conceptual)

Other desirable skills include:

• Outstanding portfolio with several samples that demonstrate cutting edge conceptual skills and creativity
• A strong understanding of user interface design process and methodology, particularly as applied to web-based applications
• An ability to organize and deliver multiple design elements of complex, large-scope web projects
• Proven ownership of a full User Interaction Design project
• Knowledge of JS libraries and frameworks is a big plus
• Knowledge of CMS systems is helpful
• Knowledge of CSS2 & XHTML1.0
• High level of attention to detail
